One Step From Senior Hurling in 2017
All roads on Saturday lead to Innovate Wexford Park where at 2pm our hurlers take on Oylgate/Glenbrien in the Intermediate Co Final. This is a huge game for the club and puts us just this one victory from contesting the senior hurling championship for 2017.
It promises to be a tough battle against the raging hot favourites and the support of the entire parish will be required to help our young men get over the line. Thus far this year the...y have displayed and honoured the long standing black & amber tradition of never say die spirit and courage mixed in with no little hurling skill to reach this final and the scene is now set for potentially another huge day in the clubs history. This history shows Adamstown as the holders of 11 senior hurling titles in 4th place on the overall honours list and incidentally on the 15th of October 2011 we last won the Intermediate hurling title defeating favourites Duffry Rovers to claim the trophy so perhaps the coincidence of Saturdays date is a good omen.
Excitement is steadily building this week in the locality with the bunting & banners in all three villages a reminder of the clash that lies ahead. We hope that the whole locality, adults and children, travel in their colours to Wexford Park for the game as Co Final appearances are rare in many clubs and are to be celebrated and enjoyed when they do arise. The players are 100% determined that they will give every ounce of energy in their bodies to bring a victory and a cup back to the local people- they are acutely aware of the hurling tradition in Adamstown and are eager to take the club back to senior ranks as soon as possible.
We wish our friends in Oylgate/Glenbrien the best of luck on Saturday, they have a very fine team and it should be a hell of a battle. We now need our supporters to drive the lads on, create an electric atmosphere and hopefully between everyone we get the right result.
No matter what happens on the day these young men have done the club, their families and themselves proud this year and with the help of God (and plenty of partisan Adamstown supporters) we can pull this one off!!!! Hon Adamstown!!!
